The novel follows a teen girl swept into an opulent world of love, lies, and ghosts after she moves in with the wealthy, mysterious family she never knew she had. Set in 1985, the story brings readers to Grove Hollow, New York, and into Blythe House, a gilded mansion with a dark family legacy, a cursed locket, a Victorian ghost, and secrets that refuse to stay buried.
The Grove Hollow series is a high-stakes gothic YA romance for readers drawn to dark academia, haunted houses, fated romance, love triangles, family mysteries, and richly atmospheric supernatural stories. The deluxe hardcover package features art by Shelby Nicole, including character art on the endpapers, a four-color case, a jacket with special effects, and interior black-and-white chapter illustrations.
Metamorphosis is the first title in Shelby Nicole's four-book world-rights deal with Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House Children's Books at Penguin Random House. Book two, Senescence, is scheduled for December 1, 2026.
